I was just reading the College Bowl Game match-ups for the up coming holidays. This use to be a special and exciting time of year for many of us who love the game. For a number of years now the schedule has been dragged out through the second week of January and the feeling I used to get watching games on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day is just not the same. I miss that excitement.
Could it be that in the quest for dollars division one schools and the BCS have taken this too far? The title game this year will be played on January 9th. By that time I have lost interest and if my favorite team is not playing I just can't get excited about it.
Why can't the schedule be designed to culminate on New Year's Day? Maybe move the other games forward accordingly. It just does not feel right to play the biggest game of the year any other day.
